Reporter at CBC News.
I have been pretty much "offline" since October 2017, when I was attacked and knocked unconscious while working on a story for CBC News. I am now gradually returning to work and will resume reporting, posting and much more as soon as possible. HG
I seek stories that resonate. That can mean many different things.
I'm a graduate of Carleton University (Ottawa) and more recently earned a MFA from the University of King's College (Halifax). Born and raised in Montreal, I have lived in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and now, Toronto. My work and life have taken me to many places in North and South America, Europe and (repeatedly) China.
Some of my best trips have been the shortest ones, however. By canoe (yes, the one in the picture is mine). There is simply nothing like being on a quiet lake first thing in the morning.
I once specialized in political reporting and then became, for many years, a business reporter. The global financial crisis was an astonishing education.
These days, I am not bound by a single beat, or for that matter, platform.
